June Project for Kiwi Lane

Hello everyone! I'm thrilled to be up on the Kiwi Lane Designs blog today with a new project for June, although I'm also sad that this is my last project as a design team member for Kiwi Lane. It has been an amazing term with Kiwi Lane, one of my most favorite scrapbooking companies ever! I know the new design team will be bringing us new inspiration as well, so I'm looking forward to that.

For June, the Kiwi Lane design team has been working with Hazel & Ruby -- a fun new scrapbooking company with lots of unique products. I had a blast creating with their tissue paper, sequins, and Stencil Masks. Here's a sneak peek:

Be sure to learn more about Hazel & Ruby at their blog or their Facebook page.

This month's featured Kiwi Lane templates are Mini Madison Avenue and Accents -- both of which are on sale this month and both of which I used to create this fun project. You'll have to head over Kiwi Lane to see the whole project.

But before you go, you'll have to enter to win your very own set of Kiwi Lane Accents templates. To enter, just do one of these:

  • Subscribe to my blog (in the left nav) and leave a comment on this post telling me you're all signed up.
  • Like my Facebook page and leave me a quick post there telling me you did it.
I'll announce the random winner on June 27. Be sure to enter before midnight MST on June 26. (I can only ship to United States -- thank you for your understanding.)

Good luck and stay crafty!
Lissa :)

Updated 6/28/14: Congratulations to Heather Thompson -- you're the winner of the Kiwi Lane templates! Email me at MightyCrafty.me@gmail.com to claim your prize.

Another Scrappy Layout

So I've been working to "kill the kit" with the March 2013 kit from Studio Calico. I'm finally here today with my last layout from the kit -- a scrappy layout, made just from the last bit and pieces I had from the kit.

Family Is What Matters layout from scraps -- www.MightyCrafty.me

You might recognize this layout type as one I have done many times before. :) Like this layout, and this one too. It's just a framework that works so well, and I love how it turns out each time.

So I had created all these layouts with the March 2013 Studio Calico kit:

http://mightycrafty.blogspot.com/2014/06/sketch-n-scrap-sketch-challenge-58.htmlhttp://mightycrafty.blogspot.com/2014/05/sketch-n-scrap-inspired-by-challenge-5.htmlhttp://mightycrafty.blogspot.com/2014/05/practical-scrappers-may-sketch.html

And all I had left of the 12x12 papers in the kit were lots of scraps. So I trimmed a bunch of them down to 3" strips of varying heights and layered them up along the side of my paper:

I added a few thin 12" strips and washi tape from the kit and that's it -- layout done.

Love it! And that finishes off the March 2013 kit from Studio Calico. On to the next one...

Until next time,

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #59

I'm excited today because it's time for the second sketch of the month from Sketch N Scrap. You know how I love working with these monthly sketches. They really offer you so much creativity in your design while not forcing you to start from scratch. Love that! And I'm happy to say that I'm staying on the design team for another six months. There are a bunch of new designers joining the team for this next round -- and I'm so excited to work with them all!

Each month, Sketch N Scrap offers three layout sketches and two card sketches to challenge your creativity. And if you link up your creation at their site, you'll be entered to win an awesome prize package -- a different prize each month.

Here's sketch #59:

And here's the layout I created based on the sketch:

Blog Hop for Miss Kate Cuttables and Scrappy Moms Stamps

Scrappy Moms Stamps & Miss Kate Cuttable blog hop

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be a part of this week's amazing blog hop with Miss Kate Cuttables and Scrappy Moms Stamps. There have been so many adorable projects to see from all the designers. Best of all, you can win some great prizes! Read on to find out how to enter.

For my project today, I created a scrapbook layout:

I used the Little Critters stamp set from Scrappy Moms Stamps:

And these adorable cut file sets from Miss Kate Cuttables:

At first glance, it might be hard to figure out where I used the stamps. :) Since my stamp set was all of these adorable sentiments, I decided to use them to create my own custom patterned paper. It's a great way to use your stamps to create something unique. Here's how:

1. Choose your stamping ink colors to coordinate with the other papers and embellishments you are planning to use.

2. Start stamping with one stamp in just one color, keeping the orientation the same over the paper (I cropped my paper to 7x12 so I would have a smaller canvas to work with).

3. Stamp with the next stamp in the next color, turning the orientation to be perpendicular to the first. Be sure to stamp off the sides of the paper too. It doesn't have to be perfect, so don't stress about this at all. It should be fun!

4. Fill your page, staying with a single color for each stamp to create consistency. Fill in gaps with a small generic stamp (like I did with the star stamps).

That's it -- you now have a custom piece of patterned paper to use on your layout or project.

I just love it! The colors coordinate perfectly with my other papers and the Miss Kate Cuttables paper piecings I created for the layout.

Sketch N Scrap Inspired By Challenge #6

Hello everyone - it's time for another awesome Inspired By sketch from Sketch N Scrap. I love this sketch! It's another great one, inspired by an actual layout created by a Sketch N Scrap design team member. Each month, Sketch N Scrap offers three layout sketches and two cards sketches to help you get lots of projects done. And when you link up your creation, you'll be entered to win a great prize drawing too...

Here's this month's Inspired By sketch:

And here's what I created based on the sketch:

Love You to Pieces layout for Sketch N Scrap -- www.MightyCrafty.me

I got a little creative on this one. :) Once again, I'm "killing the kit" by using up my stash of monthly kit club kits. This layout is another one from the March 2013 Studio Calico kit. I used the included Mr. Huey's Mini Mist in Skyscraper and the Studio Calico stencil to create the background, then I misted the whole thing with Mr. Huey's Color Mist in Shine. I then used up the last of the Amy Tangerine rub-ons by placing them around the background to create my own patterned paper -- plus I used the large camera and saying for the title block.

Halloween Layout for Kiwi Lane Designs

I'm thrilled to be up on the Kiwi Lane blog today with a Halloween layout today (yes, in summer!). It's a send-off layout, where we were asked to create a layout with our favorite designer templates since this is our last month as part of the Kiwi Lane design team. I'm so sad about that! But also excited to see what the new team will do to inspire us.

Here's a sneak peek of my layout:

I used the fabulous Blackbird kit from Scraptastic Kit Club for this project. I absolutely love all the Halloween elements and paper in this kit.

You'll have to head over to Kiwi Lane to see the whole layout -- let me know what you think!

Until next time,
Stay crafty!

Sketch N Scrap Sketch Challenge #58

It's time for the first sketch of the month from Sketch N Scrap. I love working with these monthly sketches. There are so many possibilities for creating your own spin on the sketch. Plus, I love the reveal -- seeing how all of the designers create based on the sketch. It always inspires me!

Each month, Sketch N Scrap offers three layout sketches and two card sketches to challenge your creativity. And if you link up your creation at their site, you'll be entered to win an awesome prize package -- a different prize each month.

Here's sketch #58:

And here's the layout I created based on the sketch:

Those four cards on the sketch are awesome. I love how it turned out. Once again, I'm "killing the kit" by using up my March 2013 Studio Calico kit. It is so fun to create such different looks from a single kit.

I used the Becky Higgins Project Life Die Set to cut my photos and the white pattern paper into 3x4 squares. Then, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut four more journaling cards, enlarging them a bit to 3 1/2x4 1/2 so they would be able to mat the 3x4 cards. I also cut the pennant banner with this cut file set from Miss Kate Cuttables.
