Stitch Fix: March 2014

Stitch Fix review -- March 2014 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

It's time for another Stitch Fix review -- this one is from March. I actually already have my April fix too! I'm a little behind on these, but that's okay. I'm still LOVING my monthly fixes. It's just so fun to get these boxes. (Note: Stitch Fix offers a referral credit for affiliate links, which I have included in this post. I will receive a $25 credit if you sign-up using my Stitch Fix link. Thank you for your support!)

If you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, it's a monthly subscription box service. You pay a $20 styling fee and fill out a detailed style questionnaire -- then the Stitch Fix stylists pick out five clothing and accessory items to send you. You keep only what you love and send the rest back in their pre-paid shipping envelope. Your $20 styling fee is applied as a credit toward what you keep -- and if you keep all five pieces, you get an additional 25% off the total.

Michelle was my stylist this month -- and let me just say, she rocked it. Her note to me said she was focusing on sending independent separates that reflect my styling preferences. And she got me to a T!

First out of the box were these Denna Skinny Jeans by Kut From the Kloth ($78). Skinny jeans and I do not get along. At all. I have wide hips and short legs (super flattering!) and most skinny jeans just weren't made for that kind of body type. But once again, Stitch Fix found the perfect jeans for me. I have literally bought every single pant Stitch Fix has sent me because they have been the best fitting pants/jeans I have ever tried on. Amazing. These Denna Skinny Jeans were no exception. Hands down, my most favorite pair of jeans EVER.

I obviously kept these. :) I love the dark rinse and stitching and length and everything. Just wonderful. Thank you, Michelle!

Next was this Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse by 41Hawthorn ($48). I loved the bright color and the extra little details on the sleeves and collar. Loved. Kept.

Third from the box was this Huebert Space Dye Open Cardigan by Renee C ($58). I live in cardigans over top of tees, so this was a win. Loved the color, loved the hi/lo back/front, loved it all. Kept.

Fourth, this Downing Striped Knit Shirt by Pomelo ($44). An awesome basic tee. In the days since getting this fix, I have worn this top more than anything else (except the jeans!). Loved and kept.

Finally, this Pop of Color Scarf by Rapti ($38). Super cute pattern and colors. And I love scarves, now that Stitch Fix has shown me how to wear them.

If you've been keeping track, you'll know that I was already keeping four pieces from my fix. With my $20 styling fee applied and the 20% discount, that meant this scarf and the striped tee were basically free. If I had just kept the jeans, the fuchsia shirt, and the cardigan, my total with my $20 styling fee taken off would have been $164. By keeping all five pieces, I paid only $184.50. So yes, that means I kept the entire box. :)

This month was another awesome experience with Stitch Fix. I am already anxiously awaiting my next fix! If you are looking to update your wardrobe with fashionable pieces, this is the subscription service you need to try.

Until next time...

Stitch Fix: February 2014

Feb. 2014 Stitch Fix review -- www.MightyCrafty.me

It's time for another Stitch Fix review -- I love getting my monthly Stitch Fix boxes! It's like a gift I give to myself. :) (Note: Stitch Fix offers a referral credit for affiliate links, which I have included in this post. Alexandra styled me again this month, and I had so much fun trying on everything she picked out. I love that she included suggestions for pairing up items from this Fix with items she knows I kept in previous Fixes. I need that help!

First out of the box was this AMAZING Alan Cowl Neck Asymmetrical Jacket by Sweet Rain ($58). Even before I tried it on, I knew, barring any unforeseen fit issues, I would keeping it. And I was right. It was awesome. Super soft, like a sweatshirt, yet a fun and unique shape. I admit, I wear a hoodie sweatshirt pretty much every day, so this jacket definitely steps up my style by a lot. I have worn it almost constantly since I opened my Fix.

Next up was this Fullerton Plaid Print Short Sleeve Blouse by Collective Concepts ($58). It had a super cute plaid print and cap sleeves but it was just too tight on me. Sigh. I wanted to keep it but I had to send it back.

Third was this Moni Stud Detailed 3/4 Sleeve Blouse by 41Hawthorn ($48). It was cute and I loved the stud details (plus I love black!) but it was too tight across my hips. I would have kept this one except for that. I need to lose some weight. Sigh. Or learn to sew vents in my shirts.

And now that I'm seeing the photo again while I blog this, I kind of wish I had kept this one. Oh well...

Next was this Amani Cowl Neck Sleeveless Blouse by 41Hawthorn ($58) in a beautiful purple that I loved. But I couldn't get the cowl next to look right on me. My girls are just too big for cowl necks, I think. I had to send it back.

Finally, this lovely Ella Multi-Color Ovals Necklace by Bay to Baubles ($28). I loved it. But I had just bought a very similar necklace. :( So this one had to go back too.

In the end, I only kept one piece from this Fix -- the Asymmetrical Jacket. Which I'm wearing constantly. Even though I sent back four of the five pieces, I still LOVED getting my Stitch Fix this month. And I cannot wait until the next one. Until next time,

Stitch Fix Love: January 2014

I'm so loving my monthly Stitch Fix boxes! If you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, it's a monthly subscription box service. You pay a $20 styling fee and fill out a detailed style questionnaire, then the Stitch Fix stylists pick out five clothing and accessory items to send you. You keep only what you love and send the rest back in their pre-paid shipping envelope. Your $20 styling fee is applied as a credit toward what you keep -- and if you keep all five pieces, you get an additional 25% off the total.

This month's Stitch Fix box arrived right on schedule, on Jan. 2. I immediately dove in...

Stitch Fix Love: January 2014 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

Alexandra was my stylist this month and she did an awesome job. I love that she included a personal note and said she actually read my blog reviews on my previous Stitch Fixes. How awesome is that?! Thank you so much, Alexandra and Stitch Fix!

First out of the box was this Marquis Slub Knit Dolman Sweater by Kut From The Kloth ($48). The color and knit fabric were awesome, but it looked a little loose and sloppy on me and was a little on the short side. Let's be honest, I really don't need to look larger than I already am. :) So it went in the going-back pile.

Next up was this Rowson Colorblock Striped Sweater by 41Hawthorn ($58). I fell in love immediately, probably because I'm super into stripes right now. In fact, I have bought two other black and white striped tops in the last month. For that reason, I was really torn on this one. I wanted to keep it so bad. That pink on the top is adorable. But, even though I loved this one, it had to go back.

Third in the box was this emerald green Cherise Tab Sleeve Henley by 41Hawthorn ($48). I loved loved loved this color as soon as I saw it. And it was such a flattering fit for me (even though my face looks less than thrilled here -- I'm obviously not much of a model LOL). This was a keeper for sure.

Finally, these Collen High Rise Straight Leg Jeans by Liverpool ($78) in a purple-burgandy color. I was really not loving these -- until I tried them on. I don't know how Stitch Fix does it, finding pants than actually fit me. I would have try on five gazillion pairs at Kohl's before I found one that fit me -- and yet, in each box I've gotten from Stitch Fix, the pants have all fit me perfectly. These were so soft and comfy. And I know colored denim is a big trend right now, so I decided to keep these.

Last up, these Katie Twist & Crystal Drop Earrings by Bay to Baubles ($28). They were beautiful and sparkly, but a bit large for me and not so-much-my-style.

Katie Twist & Crystal Drop Earrings by Bay to Baubles -- Stitch Fix Love Jan 2014 -- www.mightycrafty.me

I decided that if I was keeping those jeans, I was going to wear them right away. So I put together this outfit the next day with one of those new black and white stripe tops I mentioned earlier and a new necklace.

Carolin' Cardi from Kiki La' Rue, Downeast Basics top, ModBod cami, necklace from HotDecor (Etsy), Liverpool denim, JustFab boots (Calvin)
My boys were iffy on my new pants, but hubs said they made me look skinny. So that's awesome. And I have a new favorite pair of pants. And the boys warmed up to them eventually. :)

So all in all, I only kept two of the five pieces this month. That means I didn't get the extra 25% discount for keeping all five, but my grand total for the two pieces was only $106 after my $20 styling fee was taken out.

I'm loving my monthly Stitch Fix boxes -- I cannot wait for the next one! If you haven't tried Stitch Fix, you should definitely do it. It is seriously so much fun to get these monthly surprise boxes.

My Second Stitch Fix -- December 2013

My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

I'm loving my monthly Stitch Fix packages. It's such a fun experience, to open up a box of clothes specially selected with your style profile in mind. You get five pieces of clothing and accessories in your fix each month. Then, you just choose what to keep and what to send back. You pay a $20 styling fee for the box each month, and the fee goes toward what you decide to keep. If you keep them all, you get 25% off the whole box.

This month was my second month of getting Stitch Fix, and I loved it, just like I did with my first Stitch Fix.

My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

For each item in the box, they send a style card that shows you two ways to wear it. Love that. Especially helpful for those of us (ahem) who are fashion-challenged.

My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

First in the box was this Wren V-neck Cap Sleeve Jersey Top by 41Hawthorn in burgandy ($48). A gorgeous color. I wanted to love this shirt, but it just looked odd on my busty frame with that layered neck. Whah. It was going back.

Wren V-neck Cap Sleeve Jersey Top -- My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

Next up, this Corinna Striped Dolman Top by 41Hawthorn in green ($48). I loved the feel of this sweater -- so soft! -- but the color was very blah on me. I was torn on this one, but finally decided to send it back. I like brighter colors. I did tell them I would like this in a different color if possible though.

Corinna Striped Dolman Top -- My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

Third, this Ivy Geo-Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse by 41Hawthorn in orange ($68). I loved the pattern and the color on this one but again, my girls got in the way. A blessing and a curse. It was just too tight across the top and across my hips as well. Sigh. Going back.

Ivy Geo-Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse -- My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

The fourth item was this Kieraly Heart Print Short Sleeve Blouse by Danial Rainn in off-white ($68). I loved the print immediately, and I loved how it looked on, even though it is a bit large through the waist. It hides everything though. I definitely kept this one.

Kieraly Heart Print Short Sleeve Blouse -- My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

The final item in the box was a pair of pants -- the Emer High Waisted Cropped Trouser by Margaret M in black ($98). I'm so leary of pants through the mail, since I have wide hips (ahem) and short legs (awesome). And these said they were high-waisted and cropped, which sounded terrible, to be honest. I put them on anyway, and to my surprise, I loved them. I kind of hated that I loved them, since they were $98, but there it is. I don't have anything like this in my wardrobe right now -- and it so happened that I needed a pair of dressy pants for a holiday party coming up this week. So kept them. And I love them.

Emer High Waisted Cropped Trouser (Stitch Fix) and Sequin Tee (Novae) My Second Stitch Fix -- Dec 2013 -- www.MightyCrafty.me

I tried them on here for the holiday party with the Lace Font Tee with Sequin Stripes from Novae Clothing in charcoal ($24 on sale). I love this top! They have lots of other colors too. I'm wearing the XL. Paired with a cardigan, I think this will be a great holiday outfit without freezing my butt off in a dress. Score.

So in the end, I decided to keep just two pieces from this fix -- the pants and the heart top -- for a total of $166. Since there were no accessories this month, this was a pricey box. I did tell my stylist that I wanted to go cheaper next month, just to mix things up a bit. I'm hoping for some more casual pieces. My next fix is scheduled to arrive on Jan. 2, and I am already counting down the days...

My First Stitch Fix - November 2013

So, everywhere on Pinterest and around the blogs, it seems like everyone is talking about Stitch Fix. It's a personal shopping service where you fill out a style profile and one of their stylists picks out five pieces to send to you. You try them on, pick out what you want to keep, and send back the rest via a free mailing envelope. There's a $20 styling fee for the box, and the fee is applied to the purchase of anything you decide to keep. And if you keep it all, you save 20% on the whole package.

So, I broke down and signed up for a my first monthly box back on August 29. The first ship date available was November 4. Whah! So. Long. To. Wait. But my box finally arrived, exactly on the date they said it would. And it was like Christmas came early...

I didn't delay in trying everything on. Each piece comes with a fashion card, like a recipe, with a casual look and a dressed-up look. Love that! My stylist was Julianne, and she included a note for me about the pieces she choose.

First up was this lovely dark red blouse - the Filbert 3/4 Sleeve Popover blouse by 41Hawthorn for $58. Definitely more than I normally spend on a blouse, but I loved the color and the fit and the everything. Definitely a keeper.

It was slightly snug across my girls, but then again, so is everything. Undoing the buttons helped a bit, and I still think it looks lovely.

Next, these jeans - the Malin Bootcut by Kensie Jeans for $98. Seriously. I've never spent that much on a pair of jeans before. Ever. And I just knew they wouldn't fit. I tried them on anyway - and I was amazed. A-MAZED. They were the softest, best fitting pair of jeans I had ever worn. Yes, they actually fit. Perfectly. I loved them. So I decided I would have to keep them.

The only flaw for me was that they were about an inch too long, just like most jeans I ever try on. You can see in the photo above that I turned them up to keep from stepping on them. So, since I was keeping them, I decided it was time to learn to hem jeans while keeping the original edge. I used this tutorial and hemmed the jeans about an inch. Nothing like trying a new sewing technique to permanently alter a $100 pair of jeans. Yikes. I was nervous.

But I perservered. And cursed a bit. But in the end - voila - perfectly fitting jeans and a perfect length. I love them so much...

The third item in the box was this beautiful, soft navy blue cardigan - the Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan for $48. Since cardigans are pretty much my mom-uniform staple, I had to keep this one too.

I love the color of this cardigan - a great change for me from my usual black.

My stylist also sent this lovely bracelet - the Eugenie Knot Detail bracelet for $28. So pretty...

And the final item in the fix, this gorgeous infinity scarf, something I had been wanting to try but hadn't yet bought for myself - the Henry Birds on Branch Infinity scarf by Rikka for $28. I had to keep it too.

Here's a slightly blurry close-up of the pattern (and an incredibly dusty mirror, wow)...

Overall, I'm super happy and excited with my first Stitch Fix. I ended up keeping everything in my box. With the 20% discount and the $20 styling fee applied to the total, I paid $180 for all five pieces. If you count the $20 I already paid, that's $40 per item. A bit more than I would spend per item if I went to Kohl's, but I feel like these items are worth it because they picked for me based on my style and are items I wouldn't have picked out for myself.

I can't wait until my next fix!
