After much intricate carving...
...we had some great pumpkins again this year.
Nathan and I carved out this spooky graveyard.
Byron and Jack carved this amazing Obi-Wan (Clone Wars style).
And with that, we are all set for Halloween night. Hope yours is a great one!

Halloween Front Porch
So with a new house comes a new front porch and a new challenge of how to set it up. It looks much the same as last year, but everything rearranged to fit the new space. I like it...
The new porch is quite a bit bigger than the one in Lincoln - kind of a blank slate. I think it will definitely be fun at Christmas-time.
On the left side, I put my shabby blue chair and a few new and old rustic buckets and baskets.
To the right, I placed the made-over grey bench and plenty more pumpkins.
And finally, the front door holds my updated Halloween door art from last year. Love how that looks...
The previous homeowners had installed light clips all around the front of the house - which made it super easy to install the lights for a spooky effect.
I especially love the spider lights hiding in the flowers...
We'll be making a few changes for Halloween night - can't wait to set it all up and see how the kiddos like it.
Please share your Halloween decor projects in this week's MightyCrafty Mondays pin-up party...I can't wait to see what you've been doing...

Halloween Mantel and Decor
I finally have all of my Halloween decor up - just in time for the first snow in Castle Rock, Colorado. The snow is beautiful but it puts me in the mood for Christmas, not Halloween. I hope we have some okay weather for trick-or-treating next week...
My mantel in the new house is very different from our last house. It's much skinnier and not as long. I've already told Byron that we'll need to put up a more substantial mantel at some point. Plus, the fireplace is off to one side of the wall, instead of being centered. It makes a bit of a difference for decorating, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
(And no, I didn't paint that odd salmon pink color - it appears in several places on the first floor and will be the first thing I get rid of. Byron doesn't see the pink - he thinks it's red...crazy...)
This past summer, I was able to buy something I've been wanting for a long, long time - a sofa table. I picked it up from a neighbor at her garage sale (thanks Jane!). I love it. I might paint / distress it eventually, but for now, it's perfect behind our couch in our new family room.
And lastly, I have put up my shabby window frames in the foyer for my wreath displays. Again, a different arrangement than in our last house, but I like it.
The foyer decor is much the same as last year, with the Halloween tree and display.
Since we just moved in a few weeks ago, I haven't been able to create anything new for Halloween. I'm kind of bummed about that, but I do love the pieces I have - especially the Halloween wreath. Probably my favorite thing of all time.
Halloween is nearly here - I would love to see your Halloween home tour too. Share it with us in this week's MightyCrafty Mondays pin-up party...

September 2012 Crafty Round-Up
Since September was a month full of moving preparation, I didn't the chance to do many crafty projects. Instead, I worked on a few scrapbooking projects that I had been meaning to finish up.
My biggest project was to finish the boys' sports album - or least get it up-to-date. I have an album dedicated just to their sports photos, and it had been lingering for quite a while. So, over the course of 2 weeks, I created 20 layouts. It feels so good to have these finished. And the boys loved seeing their sports teams over the course of the last 5 years.
Another big project - I finished rating / purging my photo library. I've been working in Lightroom to organize my nearly 10-years of digital photos, and 2010 was the last year I had to do. It had 5,184 photos in it - more than twice any other year - so it was more than a little daunting. Finally, this month, I was able to purge and rate every photo in that year, bringing the total photos down from over 5,000 to half that - 2,508. Now, I just have to categorize all those.
Finally, I created 15 digital scrapbook layouts this month. I forgot how much I loved digital scrapbooking - no mess, easy to start and stop, simple to size your photos, and so many great scrapbooking designers and kits. I pushed myself to use a few things I had in my stash that I had been wanting to use - and I love how everything turned out.
Now that we're all moved and settled into our new house in Colorado, I'm hoping to get a few projects going to share very soon. In the meantime, I'm decorating for my favorite holiday - Halloween...
