I used a boy-themed Me & My Big Ideas page kit that I have had FOREVER. I think I bought it at Michael's. It is so cute -- the paper designs and embellishments are just adorable. I also used a few new dies I bought recently: this color block cutting plate by Taylored Expressions and these tabs by My Favorite Things.

There are so many talented ladies in this blog hop, and I'm honored to be joining them. I had so much fun designing a project with Peachy Keen Stamps and Miss Kate Cuttables combined. I chose these adorable stamps from Peachy Keen Stamps and this cut file set from Miss Kate Cuttables:

 And here's my layout:

I love how it turned out! These photos are from when my boys were only two years old (they're 10 now, sob!). The papers are from the Blips and Bleeps collection by TPC Studio. 

For the title, I cut the "Geared" word out of two different papers, layering the lighter gray pattern over top of the darker gray, to create a shadowed word. I didn't do any resizing -- I just offset the lighter word a bit to show the shadow behind. Super easy!

I stamped the Peachy Keen Stamps robots onto a piece of white paper with light blue dots (also from the same paper collection) and then colored them in with colored pencils. Super easy and cute. I also stamped the Peachy Keen Stamps gears onto circles of the same pattern paper as the die cut gears.

I used foam dots behind the robots and gears to give them some dimension from the page too. The colors are just so fun -- my favorite kind of page!

Oh my gosh -- I just about die from cuteness overload when I see these robots! Love!

And no one does awesome titles like Miss Kate! I love this one.

So fun! I used the Max and Lucky Starz collections by Bella Blvd. Both of these lines are amazing with lots of great colors and elements. I used a notebook edge border punch and red chevron washi tape as well, for some extra fun texture.

Sketch N Scrap Sketch #53 Challenge

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be here today to share my layout for Sketch N Scrap's Sketch Challenge #53. I love creating fun boy layouts, and this one turned out so great (if I do say so myself). I used a die cut background paper from Best Creations. The rest of the papers and embellishments all come from the Boys Only collection by Doodlebug Designs. I just love this collection of blues and oranges and super cute boy elements.

Rainbow Loom Layout for Practical Scrappers

I'm super excited about today's project -- it's a fun outlet for my latest "other" obsession -- Rainbow Loom bracelets! I bought my boys each a Rainbow Loom for Christmas and lots of band colors and an organizer case. They did have fun with it for a bit -- but I must admit, it was me who was the most excited to play with it. LOL.

So this month's Frugal Finds feature for Practical Scrappers is Rainbow Loom bands. I love the monthly Frugal Finds challenge, because you get to create something awesome with items you probably have around the house. Luckily, I have a ton of Rainbow Loom bands...

For my project, I created a super, super long Rainbow Loom bracelet in colors to coordinate with the Our Lil Monster collection from Bo Bunny. Then I used the bracelet to create a fun page border for my layout:

Isn't it bright and colorful and awesome? I used the original weaving pattern and just used jump rings to attach each bracelet to each other until I got a long enough bracelet (I created six bracelets total). Then I just stapled the bracelet right to my page using my Tiny Attacher.

Okay, I love this technique -- and I love this new collection from Bo Bunny! What a fun combination. I hope you are inspired to try using Rainbow Loom bands on your next project. Head on over to Practical Scrappers to see what the other designers came up with for their Frugal Finds projects.

How To: Create a Background With Tags and Cards

Hello all! I'm so excited to share a fun project with you today. It's a layout for the March Sketch Challenge at Practical Scrappers. I love this month's sketch, designed by the oh-so-talented Christine Meyer.

Those circles are so fun, and they inspired to me to put together a background pattern created from cards and tags. You know how you get those packs of journaling cards and tags with paper collections and there are so many that you aren't sure how you'll ever use them up? :) Here's a great way to use a lot of them on your page at once...

I love how this page turned out! I used the Boys Rule collection from Crate Paper. This line is amazing and has lots of boys elements mixed with trendy patterns and colors.

To create a layered background with cards and tags:

1. Just like the sketch, layer the cards and tags around your background until you get a look you like.
2. Adhere the cards and tags down. Use just a strip of adhesive in the middle of the back of each tag or card, so that you can easily layer other cards or tags under if you want to.
3. Keep layering and arranging, adhering as you go.
4. Place your photo on top (with a fun frame or mat background to help it stand out).
5. Finally, layer on the little pieces of bling or embellishments to give your page that special touch.

I love this sketch! What a fun way to feature a photo that you love and want to showcase in your family scrapbooks. Thank you, Christine, for an amazing sketch!

I've got a fun layout today based on the Inspired By sketch #2 from Sketch 'N Scrap. This is a new feature Sketch 'N Scrap is doing starting this year -- the sketch is based on a layout created by another designer at Sketch 'N Scrap. I love this idea! Here's the sketch for this month:

For this layout, I used the All About a Boy collection from Echo Park -- one of my absolute favorite lines! I added in a few embellishments from my stash too. I love how it turned out!

Kiwi Lane Basic Sketch Challenge

I'm excited to help launch a new feature from Kiwi Lane today -- the Basic Sketch Challenge. On the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, Kiwi Lane will have a new basic sketch for you to play with. With these sketches, anyone and everyone can play along, since you don't necessarily need the Kiwi Lane templates to create them. Of course, if you have them, you'll immediately see the possibilities of using your templates to make the sketch even more fun. And if you upload your layout for the sketch, you'll be entered to win some great prizes!

I love this new feature -- here's the first sketch:

 

I, of course, had to use my Kiwi Lane designer templates to add lots of layers to the sketch. Here's what I created:

This was such a fun layout to create. My boys love to go geo-caching when we hike through Colorado, and I wanted a fun, adventurous feel for the photos. So, I used the Heidi Swapp No Limits collection, perfect for these kinds of pages. Love these papers and embellishments! I also used these Kiwi Lane templates:

• Tiny Accents 6T

A Whole Bunch of Boy Layouts

Last month, I had the wonderful experience of attending a scrapbooking retreat in the mountains of beautiful Colorado with a new group of scrapbooking friends. It was so amazing. I had a blast getting to know everyone -- and I created 24 scrapbooking layouts in three days!

Today, I wanted to share a couple of the layouts I created that weekend. Like this layout I shared already, I used the All About a Boy collection from Echo Park -- my current favorite boy collection. If you have boy layouts to create, you have to get this collection. It is perfect for just about anything boy-related.

First, up, I created this very simple layout with just two photos, a rarity for me. But I loved the background paper so much that I just didn't want to cover it up. I used my Kiwi Lane designer templates to add the little gears and then added in some chipboard letters and embellishments from my stash.

Next up, I created this double-page layout with a sketch from Scrapbook Generation. I again added my Kiwi Lane templates (the tag shape and strips), chipboard letters, and embellishments from my stash. Those cute paper circles with buttons are from Zo-Be Designs on Etsy. Love them!

 

Lastly, this single-page layout, made with Kiwi Lane templates and American Crafts Thickers.

I'm so in love with this collection for all my boy pages! Everything about it says fun and happiness and boys.
